Archie Mason | February 8, 2012Vision and LeadershipThis week Pastor Archie Mason from Central Baptist spoke to us about vision. We weren't prepared for the wealth of knowledge he gave to us! Most of our time was spent trying to scribble down as much as we could of what he was saying. He spent much of his time telling us what vision is, and how it functions in relationship with leadership.
Vision defined: "Vision is a preferred future, that's better than the present, constructed by a mental picture of what you want something to look like. Vision also outlines the path and direction you are going, while acting as a drawstring to pull people together in a common focus." Vision creates tension between present reality and preferred future. We must be intentional to stay the course or we will be pulled back to a comfortable present.
